LPG refueling inlet. Where should it be placed?

LPG is a way of ecological and economical driving, which greatly benefits both the environment and our wallet. Low operating costs and the fact that LPG is environmentally friendly mean that more and more drivers are convinced of this solution. And thus – questions about the details of the installation assembly arise. Today we write about the refueling inlet also called gas inlet, LPG inlet.

Where should the LPG inlet be installed?

The location of the gas inlet should be strictly dependent on the car’s capabilities. In the 1990s, refueling valves were usually mounted under the bumper to the body sheet, on brackets intended for this purpose. This was due to the fact that at that time it was the easiest place to carry out the installation, and at the same time it did not require excessive interference with the vehicle structure. This solution, however, had its drawbacks, among which one should mention, first of all, the great difficulty in refueling and the constantly dirty filler. Today nobody can imagine bending down to their knees to refuel a car.

Today, one of the most popular solutions is placing the LPG system inlet in the vehicle’s bumper. The reason for this state of affairs – apart from the above-mentioned disadvantages of the older method – is the fact that the world is constantly looking for new technological solutions. Therefore, over the last dozen or so years, both LPG systems and the vehicles themselves have undergone a significant metamorphosis. Installing a gas inlet in the bumper has pros and cons. In this case, we do not use an additional screw-in refueling tip, and the fuel gun is attached directly to the filler in the bumper. You just unscrew the cap to the refueling inlet and refuel with LPG.

Another option is to install a gas inlet in the fuel inlet flap. This solution has the advantage of being the most comfortable of all three for the driver himself. By using them, we can also be sure that it will not disturb the attractive appearance of the car. In addition, we do not have to bend down to the bumper, which can be beneficial for many drivers on autumn and winter days. Importantly, many car models have technical limitations that prevent the installation of a refueling gas inlet in the petrol filler flap. The solution to this situation may be, for example, the use of a smaller filler and the use of a special, additional, tightened adapter during each filling of the tank.
